Communications are good, Route 27 was expanded recently to 6 lanes and there is easy access to Interstate 4. The Downtown area of Haines City has been improved attracting small and medium businesses to this commerce friendly town.

Vacation Homes in Haines City are located in the following neighborhoods:

  • Southern Dunes, a renowned golf and country club.
  • Calabay Park at Tower Lake, a gated lake front community.
  • Villa Sorento, a small but well designed pool home community.
  • Grenelefe, an older golf and country club to the South of Haines City.

The population of Haines City is around 21,000 and not unlike many of the towns and cities surrounding the Orlando Disney area, attracts many visitors and "snow birds" who stay for the winter months, avoiding colder weather at their homes further north in the US.

Haines City began when platted circa 1885, when the railroad reached the area, originally there was no station and the town was called Clay Cut, until the residents lobbied the Railroad Company and offered to rename their town Haines City after the then President of the Railroad, Colonel Henry Haines. The Town was officially incorporated into Polk County in 1914 with the original occupants planting Citrus Plants, which has been the mainstay it's economy.

The explosive growth of Haines City along with neighboring towns and cities is largely due to it's proximity to Disney and the Orlando area, although Legoland has provided Haines City with it's own theme park for which it is rightly proud.
